About

Matthew Poe

So far, I've written about music, politics, and live events. I've worked with a writer's group for the better part of a decade, and in that time have finished a first draft of a novel, several plays, and several smaller projects. I once took a copyediting class for fun.

My first jobs were in the field of broadcasting: I worked for seven years in radio, both commercial and non-commercial. There, I wrote and reported newscasts, produced local sports and other programs, conducted and edited interviews, DJ'd, and, eventually, managed a news staff.

I've used social media and other marketing strategies to successfully execute a number of projects, including Guerrilla Gay Bar Los Angeles (featured in the New York Times, NPR, and others), and an extensive campaign against "free speech zones" at my alma mater, which was featured in USA Today, NPR and others; that campaign is also discussed in an exhibit on the First Amendment at the Newseum in Washington, DC.

I'm always looking for opportunities to broaden my experience and write about new things and to create content in new formats. Available for assignments.
